Book of Mormon Liahona Gift, Activity and Printout

I teach Seminary and wanted a fun craft type of activity to do with my students along with a cute little gift for Christmas.  We are studying the Book of Mormon this year so I wanted my gift to go along with what we have studied.

I found the Ferrero Rocher chocolates at Costco.  A box of 12 was only $10, so they ended up costing under $1 a gift!  Then I printed out these labels to glue onto the package.  I just used a glue stick and it worked fine.

To make a copy for yourself just click on the picture to make it large.  Then copy and paste it into your printing program, or save it into your pictures.  Size it to fit a full sheet of paper.

I printed mine on gold cardstock that I bought at Walmart.

I really wanted the students to make a Liahona, but I had all of these images of the student's taking them to school and getting smashed, or just throwing them away. So I came up with this craft activity that will fit into their journal.  Surprisingly, they seemed to really enjoy doing the craft.

I thought that this could be a fun craft project for Primary or Family Home Evening.  It's cheap and easy to do.  Plus is doesn't make a big mess!

I bought a bunch of rhinestone stickers at Michael's, along with metallic pens.

I had them color and put the stickers on as I taught the lesson.  Easy, cheap, and the Liahona's won't get ruined!

I printed mine on cardstock to make it more sturdy.

I have to say that I was pleased with the response of the students.  Most of them really appreciated a craft and they could listen while they worked.  I don't do this very often, but there are some students who really respond to an activity once in awhile.

Here are a couple of examples of finished projects:

I also have a large printout that you can use:

Please let me know how yours turned out.
I would love to hear about your experience!
