Heavenly Father Gave Us the Gift of Animals

Color and cut out the box pattern.  Follow the directions on the pattern.  Glue all the sides of the box.  I reinforced mine with tape.  I gave the children foam animals to fill up their gift box.

Another activity with a story about being kind to animals:http://hollyshome-hollyshome-hollyshome.blogspot.com/2011/06/i-can-choose-right-by-being-kind-to.html

Father's Day Poem

I used it on the inside of a card.  I used white card stock paper for the card.  I made a shirt out of the card stock paper (see post listed below), then the kids colored a tie.
They can use this poem for the inside.

You can also make some Bread and Butter Pickles for Father's Day.
Click on the link below the picture to learn how.
It incudes a cute printout for the pickles.

Book - Joseph Smith Translates the Book of Mormon

This shows you how to make a book about how Joseph Smith got the Golden Plates
and translated them into the Book of Mormon.

When you copy and paste these sheets, make sure to enlarge them to fit the entire piece of paper (top to bottom, not the width), or the book will be out of alignment.

Cover (Print on Card Stock)
This is the cover of the book.  It makes two book covers.  Cut it in the middle of the page at 5 1/2" to make two separate book covers.  I like to print the cover on card stock.  Make sure the picture lines up with the right edge of the paper.

These next two pages will both be printed on one piece of paper.
One will go on one side of the paper, the other will go on the opposite side of the paper.
Remember to enlarge the graphics to fit the entire page.

Print this next graphic on to the back side of the graphic above.
Make sure they both face the same direction.

Cut the paper exactly in the middle.
Put half sheet that has pages 4 & 5 on top of the pages that have 2 & 7.
Make sure the numbers go in correct order.
Then put both of those pages on the inside of the cover page.
Carefully fold them all in half.  Staple on the left side.
You have just created a book!

What Should We do on the Sabbath?

What should you do on the Sabbath Day?
On the calendar color all the days that are Sunday.  Then have them color the pictures that are keeping the Sabbath Day Holy.  Put an X on the ones that are not keeping the Sabbath.

The holiness of the Sabbath is in our hearts as much as in our actions. Henry Ward Beecher expressed this truth when he said: “A world without a Sabbath would be like a man without a smile, like a summer without flowers, and like a homestead without a garden. It is the joyous day of the whole week.”
(In Ezra Taft Benson, Ensign, May 1971, p. 5.)

Talent Money

Talent Money
Color the pictures and cut out the money.
You can also make two copies and use them for the matching game.
Works best if you use card stock.

For there are many gifts, and to every man is given a gift by the Spirit of God (D&C 46:11).

Make a Liahona

The Liahona
Just color and cut out the circle "compass" and the pointer.  Use a brad to secure the pointer in the center.

If you don't have a brad, then you can use yarn and a needle.  Just tie a knot in your yarn, then pull it through the center of the Liahona, with the knot on the back side.  Then pull the needle through the blunt end of the arrow.  Pull the arrow all the way down the yarn until it lays flat against the Liahona.  Tie the yarn in a knot, and cut off the yarn.  There should be a knot at
the back of the Liahona, and one on the front, with the yarn pulled tight in the middle.

Tithing Money

Tithing Money
Just right click on the picture and click on "save as" then you can save it into one of your files.
Have the children color the money, then circle how much they would pay in tithing.
You can also have the children color it and cut it out.  They could use it as "play money" and even put it into tithing envelopes just for fun.

And they did impart of their substance, every man according to that which he had, to the poor, and the needy, and the sick, and the afflicted (Alma 1:27).

Baptism Eight Cake

Baptism Eight Cake
Just right click on the picture and click on "save as" then you can save it into one of your files. Print onto cardstock if you want.  It makes it easier for the children to manipulate.

Ye are desirous to come into the fold of God, and to be called his people, and are willing to bear one another’s burdens, that they may be light; Yea, and are willing to mourn with those that mourn; yea, and comfort those that stand in need of comfort, and to stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places that ye may be in (Mosiah 18:8–9).

Feed My Sheep

“Follow me, and feed my sheep (D&C 112:14).

Feed My Sheep

Just right click on the picture and click on "save as"
then you can save it into one of your files.

Use cotton balls to glue onto the sheep.  Works best if you print it on card stock.  I cut out the sheep, then punched a hole in the top. Then I put the sheep on a string to wear around their neck.

I also had the children string on cut up colored drinking straws like beads.  I put tape on the end of the string to work as a needle.  I also tied a piece of drinking straw on the other end of the string to work as a knot. The beads went on the sides of the sheep, with the sheep in the middle.

I had the missionaries come in and talk to the children about missionary work
and what the phrase "feed my sheep" means.

There is also a story out of the Friend about "Feed My Sheep"
by Jennifer Holt that is based on a true story

I Can Choose the Right by Being Kind to Animals

second page:

This printout is made for the story below. It is from the LDS Primary Lesson Manual.

Printout one picture of the nest for each child.  The second page has enough birds and eggs for 5 children.  Each child gets one bird, and four eggs for their nest.  Have the children color the nest eggs, and bird.  I used tape on the back of all the eggs and birds so that the children could put them in the nest, and take them back out.   They could even tell the story in their own words.

You can also use this handout as an aid when telling the story to the children.  This handout goes with the story of a boy saving the eggs and the mother bird in Primary 3A, lesson 2.
Story below, or use linkhttp://classic.lds.org/ldsorg/v/index.jsp?hideNav=1&locale=0&sourceId=43b3767978c20110VgnVCM100000176f620a____&vgnextoid=198bf4b13819d110VgnVCM1000003a94610aRCRD

A young boy named Warren lived near a bird refuge. A refuge is a place where birds are protected. Warren’s father’s job was to help protect the birds. Warren had found a nest in the tall grass near his home, and he loved to look at the eggs in the nest when the mother bird was away. One day when Warren was looking at the eggs, he heard a loud noise. He looked up and saw that two boys from his school had shot a bird with a slingshot.
The two boys saw Warren and came up to look at the nest. One of the boys wanted to smash the eggs. Warren convinced the boys not to smash the eggs, and he told them that it was against the law to kill birds in the refuge. The boys told Warren that he had better not tell anyone that they had shot a bird. They did not want to be punished for breaking the law. As Warren went home, he walked very slowly, thinking about what he should do. If he told his father about the boys, they might make fun of him or hurt him.
Point to the picture of Jesus on the CTR chart.
  • • What question should Warren ask himself to help him choose the right? (“What would Jesus want me to do?”)
  • • What would you do?
Warren decided to tell his father about the boys. His father said he would talk to the boys and their parents. When Warren told his father that he was worried about seeing the boys at school, Warren’s father suggested Warren find a way to make the boys his friends.
Warren didn’t want to be friends with boys who would shoot birds and smash their eggs. He was upset that his father had made that suggestion. All that night Warren thought about what his father had said. Warren had another decision to make.
  • • What decision did Warren have to make?
Point to the picture of Jesus on the CTR chart again.

  • • What question should Warren ask himself? (“What would Jesus want me to do?”)
  • • What should Warren do?
  • When Warren saw the boys again, they were angry with him for telling his father about them. They threatened to beat him up. Warren was afraid, but he decided to do what Jesus would want him to do. He told the boys that he and his father were going to take a hike on Saturday, and he asked if they would like to come along. The boys were surprised and didn’t say anything for a while. They had not expected Warren to be friendly to them. Finally they agreed to go. As Warren said good-bye to the boys, he had a peaceful feeling. He knew that making the boys his friends was the right thing to do. (Adapted from Claudia Remington, “The Nest,” Friend, May 1980, pp. 2–5.

• Why did Warren have a peaceful feeling?
• When have you had a peaceful feeling because you chose the right and did what Jesus wanted you to do?
Invite the children to talk about any experiences they have had with choosing the right.

Choosing The Right Makes Me Happy

On this handout the child puts a smile on the face, and colors the face to make it look like them self. They can draw on the hair in their own hair color and make the eyes the color of their own eyes.  If you are very ambitious, print it out on card stock and then use yarn for the hair.
